I can't believe I'm about to relive a dream I've had many times before, I will be attending Wimbledon in July!
As a youngen I stayed up countless nights and watched the tennis for hours on end. Back in the day when I thought 4am was a ridiculous hour to be awake, but it seems that bad habit has become the beginnings of my insomia.
Anyway, enough rambling, due to myself and my sister being members of Tennis Australia, we applied for the ballot distribution of tickets during the second week. As my regular followers would know, my cousin is playing golf in the British Open in July, and it just so happens that we will be in London beforehand, which coincidentally occurs when Wimbledon!
I swear, it was fate when I recieved the letter in the mail confirming that we we successful applicants. My dream as a youngen has finally come true. Now all I need is to see Marat Safin for myself, eat strawberries and cream with the Poms and grab myself one of those killer wimbledon towels.
Then, ladies and gentleman, by sporting life at the age of 21 would be utterly complete :)

Did someone say where's Huddink?
I don't think I'm the only person online who can't wait for 2009 to be over, bring on 2010 and the FIFA World Cup!
My soccer excitement has been dull lately since there isn't much coverage of international games on free-to-air TV in Australia, but it seems as though our little side is getting some pretty dcent form together.
For those of you who don't know much about soccer, you might think Uzbekistan is just some small unknown side from the Middle East that we should pummel into insignificance. In fact, their side has some very classy players who play in Europe and it was predicted that this would be a much tighter contest than first anticipated.
But much to the delight of the rejuvenated Aussie bandwagon, we pulled out some goo form from god knows where and as a nation we suddenly seem reinvigorated for another world cup assault.
I admit, I'll be one of the first people on the wagon if we get a fantastic draw, and god forbid make it as far as we did last year in 2008. But come on, who doesn't love a good fairytale and if Australia is in it then so much the better. If it unites us as a country and promotes another sport besides AFL for even a split second, then we all should embrace the all-Euro football and come along for the ride. I know I will be!

new sports channel people, YAY!
Well, I think it's about time I talk about another sports issue that has just struck me. As many TV or sports enthusiasts would have already gathered, a new 'sports only' channel is being commissioned by the 10 Network for all digital TV owners, and I'm literally getting pumped just thinking about!
Just picture, tennis (YES, all year round and not just the Aus Open and one week of Wimbledon), basketball, all those AFL matches that we never see and even the pleasure of some proper international golf :)
Sports fans who can't afford foxtel (aka me) are practically besotted by this channel starting, I just really hope that it gets the support it deserves. We can only watch bad re-runs of 10 year old movies for so long, and besides I think Titanic has definitely reached its tether, don't you?
All I'm asking for is some fairness in what sport the channels cover. I don't expect it to be sport 24/7, but abit of giving back to loyal viewers surely wouldn't hurt. If the stations were consistent with what they showed and gave some sports a decent chance at viewer success, they might actually find a following will develop and such coverage isn't a waste of time.
As our shining light Lleyton would say, cmonnnn all you sports fans out there, support this channel when it begins on channel 12 through the ten netwrok (i stand to be corrected here!) and lets watch the success of a sports channel for the middle class sector of society.

and the blogging begins ..
Hello anyone and everyone ...
After reading my friends amazing blog, I decided it was about time i put my ramblings out there for all of you to read, instead of them building up and never being said. Besides, my close friends can only listen for so long!
I will attempt to compile stories and my beliefs about all the sport I read, watch and hear about which is a fair bit.
I've been involved in tennis for as long as I can remember, half my family are gold fanatics and I have recently started to get involved with hockey, which I now realise is a very physical and demanding sport that I knew literally nothing about. Stupid me! After watching a match from the AHL (Australian Hockey League) today I found myself off my seat for half the match, trying to figure out tactics and the way the teams were trying to score goals...
Anyway, enough about that. My forthcoming rambling will be able the British Open (golf) in July as I will be going over to watch my cousin compete, booo yeah! So stay tuned for that little snippet.
Blog ideas are taking over my mind at the moment, so stay tuned for more info to come!
